Add readable inline references with a numbered endnotes list and clear return links, using semantic HTML and no JavaScript.
Create a beginner-friendly, accessible article footnotes component using semantic HTML and complete dependency-free vanilla CSS. Use an article with a heading, readable paragraph text, superscript in-text reference links, and a labelled Notes section containing an ordered list. Give every note a unique ID and link each reference to its note; include a return-to-reference link inside each note with a descriptive accessible name. Use native anchors only—no JavaScript—so keyboard and assistive-technology users can follow both directions. Scope custom CSS to .cf-footnotes and ensure every custom class selector is represented in the supplied HTML so edits update the live preview. Keep contrast readable, focus-visible indicators obvious, backlinks at least 40px, and the layout usable from 320px. Respect reduced-motion preferences. Do not use remote assets, icons, or framework classes. Return complete HTML and CSS, and briefly explain how the fragment IDs connect each reference to its note and backlink.
